Grounding and Earthing

These two practices are vital for energy workers, not only do we need boundaries to protect ourselves and our power, we need to remain energetically tethered to the Earth in order to remain rooted and stable. We have all heard the expressions: "Oh her head is always in the clouds", "Aw he's quite airy fairy", these are references to someone whose mentality and energy are always floating, or not necessarily realistic and focused. Sure, daydreaming can be fun, but we cannot stay up there forever.
We have all been there, and many things can unground us, struggles, fear, substances, escapism, certain environments and some spiritual practices that do not close with a grounding. The differences between grounding and earthing are usually seen as grounding is returning your awareness to the ground beneath your feet and your focus returning, earthing is specifically making barefoot contact with the Earth and the surface energies to reconnect you, be it sand, mud or grass. In my experience both techniques ground you and you cannot always earth, especially in winter, but earthing barefoot brings forward as well a deep sense of calm.
To ground you can take deep breaths and with each breath in draw the Earth energies up your legs, into your abdomen, lungs and heart and out into your Aura, feel the cooling energy move through you, or visualise your feet becoming roots and anchoring you to the ground below.
And to earth, set time aside where you won't be disturbed and similarly to the above, feel the magnetic connection between your feet and the ground, feel the calmness, feel the subtle pulsating of the heart beat of nature harmonising with your own energy.
Some additional ways to ground are to carry grounding crystals, these are typically black and green crystals, or you can enjoy the very earthy fragrance of herbs and oils like Patchouli, Oak moss and even Rosemary, these can also be worn if you are not allergic by applying a small drop of oil to your wrists and massaging them together. These activities will ground you and focus your energies on the here and now - useful on stressful or work days.
So, how often should people do either of these techniques? In truth, I would say everyday for energy workers and empaths because we are quite sensitive to the energies of the environments we enter, and we would not want to end up floaty ourselves. For others, whenever they feel spacey.
Enjoy the sense of peace and safety that comes from grounding and earthing to mother nature again.
Blessed Be. XxX
